What do you say? If I'm gonna show a newbie a Master story, which do you think really sells the character?

I was thinking "Terror of the Autons," but the ending is a bit crap. "Mind of Evil" maybe? Or "The Daemons?"

"Survival"? Ainley gets to be genuinely frightening
for once.
The TVM has a crap plot,but Eric Roberts is likeably
OTT in the role.

"Deadly Assassin"?

For the love of God, don't show them "The Trial of a Time Lord" or
"Last of the Time Lords". It will put them off DW forever....

Maybe Mind of Evil... but then you've got the b/w stuff, and it's not that popular, is it? (I rate it)

I'd go for Mind of Evil.

The Deadly Assassin. No disrespect to Delgado, but whatever the shortcomings of the story, the Master is at his most desperate and creepy here.

After that The Mind of Evil because you have the cigar smoking fun loving side of the character. After that, Utopia because he's so iconic in that one. And yeah, I think The Sound of Drums should be up there, because the Simm characterisation is so full of fun and madness and seems more than capable of beating the Doctor. Then Survival, for similar reasons to Assassin.

Deadly Assassin is pure genius, but I'm wondering if it's really the best place to start, just 'cuz it's this "reduced" form of the Master... Actually... Oh hell, I don't know.

Mind of Evil is quite good, despite the B&W isn't it? And Survival is good, but it's got McCoy-era production values.

Terror. He's got all the best lines in that one. Assassin may be a great story but it's too atypical of his characterisation to work as a first impression.
