I once went on the SFX blog under a pseudonym,
criticsing Partners in Crime, especially the "gurning through
the window" scene. Dave Golder responded, saying he
thought it was one of the highlights of the episode.

I also sent a message on David J Howe's blog praising
his review of "Forest of the Dead".

So whilst I don't deny that some of you think the guy is an arse and that, I thought I should put on record that he was actually nice to a drunk bloke in his early 20's who thought he was going to be a rock and roll star. So that's cool.

I'm not saying he isn't a nice guy, I don't know, I've never met him. The article itself really does make him sound like a wanker by bigging up the small things he has done. Blum's is worse though. As far as I can gather he really hasn't done anything but write some fanfiction and do some home movies. What I'm getting at is these people are using other peoples characters and universe, if they wrote something original or were making low budget original films then I can see why they would deserve a place in wikipedia. But when your whole career seems to be trading off being an uber fan of something you didn't create, then it's pretty laughable.

I enjoyed the The Guinness Book of Classic British TV
which Topping wrote with Martin Day and Paul Cornell-in fact,
my mother and father enjoyed reading the book as well.

It's just from his online comments about people that don't
like RTD's DW make him come across as a jerk of the
worst kind.

Be fair, I'm not having a go at any of you. If some guy writes something dickish, well then you're in your rights to have a go.

Topping was a civil servant (like me). As far as I know he was able to leave that and make his living writing about stuff he likes (well unless something has changed in the last couple of years). Fair dues to the man. Sometimes it's not fun being a civil servant (my job might be the exception though). Not much scope for creativity there. Now if I was him, I wouldn't bother with a Wiki, but perhaps he think it'll lead to some work?

As for Jon Blum, I'm quibble with describing his BBC books as fan fic (although I think the missus is the better writer, for what it's worth), any more than New Who is fan fic. I will give him the credit (and I know Ajd would back me up on this) that he will always at least back up his argument (even if it's ludicrous and a little delusional) and isn't as snide compared to some. He will always have been the goon who did the appalling Sylvester McCoy impersonation with a fan vid. He'll have to carry that for the rest of his days. I wouldn't want that on my shoulders.

The man who can lift Kate Orman on his shoulders has my respect.

If he can run as well, this is someone to have in a crisis...

I didn't think you were Waz. I'm just talking about the wiki page itself, not the merits of the man. I simply question the validity of him having a wiki page. Fair enough to have your own web page for self promotion, I'm all for it, but is wikipedia the place for self promotion? I'm also not putting down writing fan fiction (whether it's published or not) or fan films, they have their place, just not wikipedia. It saddens me that something like this is on wikipedia, yet Tone is nearly deleted. Now think what you like of Tone, at least he's doing something original, I think he does deserve to be on Wikipedia regardless of whether the subjective merits of Damon Dark are good or not. For the record, I think Maddox is really good, the rest I think needs serious work.
