Our forthright opinions in this thread have caused mild concern on Serious Blake's 7 Forum For Grown-Ups:

If they're still reading then it's only right to point out that my experiences of B7 fandom are a single convention and the odd website owner, but the main point of focus was the mailing list. I've never seen any of the Horizon forum, so for all I know they could be lovely people.

Definite, maybe, but strong? I find the arguments in the cited post rather shallow and (sorry) immature.

I can't argue with that.

One can't integrate into a society for some reason and bang, he thinks that the society is to blame.

No, I just wanted them to have a wash. You go to a SF convention and most of them don't even have basic, fundamental manners and a majority stink of days-old B.O.. That's not "being unable to integrate", that's just wanting to treat everyone to a bar of soap.

Main Man - I can't really understand what they're getting at with that; title of the thread notwithstanding, you're pretty upfront about reacting specifically to a convention and a mailing list ..... yet they seem to think you're taking a pop at the WHOLE of fandom ?

They're at pains to say how nice the Horizon forum is.... but there's really no need, as it's self evidently NOT part of what you're talking about.

With regard to the question you're asking - I have to say, the little I know of Prisoner fandom is terrifying. Anyone remember that Radio Times interview where some Prisoner-philes had a pop at Blake's 7 fans ? I don't think either party came off well in that one.

Prisoner fandom suffers from the Six of One thing - half the fans won't hear a word against it, the other half see it as worse than the Village. And there are some big name fans on the anti side.

I did post a link to the anti Six Of One dispute and I must say as a neutral observer The Prisoner fandom seems worse than Blake's 7

They seem like quite nice, sensible fans over at Horizon...perhaps they are an exception to the experiences being discussed in this thread...

As for Harvest of Kairos...I recall it seeming good enough as any other episode when it was new...don't the Federation leave everyone to be eaten by the ants so they can take the harvest and get all the profit at the end? Ruthless buggers! I recall that being really good as another example of Federation evilness, despite the wonky Ant. The Ant was a bit...Dr.Who...so I lived with it.

The Lunar Module was dated as Hell even in 1978, we had the first Space Shuttle doing test runs in the news by that time!

Anyway...go have a wash, you Zoners...I can smell your B.O from here, and I'm in frigging Australia! ;)

Yeah one of the security guards shoots a worker who's trying to escape on to the space transporter . Smugly tells the remaining workers that they'll be left to die on the planet then turns round to see the transporter leave without him . That sums up the reason that I loved the show . Despite the rather poor production values there is a very entertainingly sadistic streak mixed with irony thoughout Blakes 7
